Green Energy

A specialist unit within Hammond, the Green Energy team provides a high-level service to help grow energy, cleantech and green construction businesses – as well as advising companies on sustainability solutions. We work with start-ups through to national and international companies.

With our considerable sector experience to draw upon, we are positioned to provide unique advice and insight into the strategic issues confronting a client. We help to future proof our clients’ development plans in the clean-tech and green energy sectors sector where political or legislative changes can risk rendering plans obsolete and hinder growth of new technologies and innovative products.

Our experience covers working with businesses specialising in a number of key sectors such as new-build eco homes; combined heat and power technology; alternative refrigeration solutions and biomass; biofuels, natural gas commercial vehicle fuels and STOR.

We also work with companies in mainstream sectors such as retail which are seeking sustainable solutions in line with impending legislation and increasing consumer scrutiny and demand.

Eco new-build homes

We were tasked with supporting the sale of high-end, eco homes at the property development Gospel Place in Malvern, Worcestershire. This included raising the profile of the eco homes offer to key target audiences, highlighting the sustainable, low-energy, low-carbon characteristics of the build as well as helping the business to forge local relationships with key influencers.

Campaign elements included: media relations generating positive coverage in local and regional press; assisting with the successful submission for a Civic Society award; devising and implementing a supporting social media programme; executing an advertising programme in conjunction with local estate agents; web content development and a community building event for purchasers.

Testimonial

“As a business we strive to design and build distinctive, unique homes that respect the environment and have a low carbon footprint. The communications campaign for Gospel Place helped us get our messages out and understood in meaningful ways. By sharing details of our commitment to sustainability, I like to think we pipped other house builders to the post. People do care about the planet. A real community is growing there among the purchasers now. Very pleasing.”

Bg New Ventures - Power Generation
Home Power Innovation

We worked with BG New Ventures over a ten-year period, promoting their world-first, micro, combined heat and power technology.

Campaigns were undertaken targeting: Eary Adopters, social housing landlords, local authorities, and trade organisations. These comprised: media relations in the national and regional press and in the trade press (online and print); the development of case studies and marketing collateral; briefing industry advocates; and securing speaking opportunities for key company spokespersons.

In addition, in the run-up to market launch, initiatives also included exhibiting at the ISH in Frankfurt and at the Chartered Institute of Housing, Annual Conference and Exhibition in the UK.

“Suzanna Hammond and her Green Energy team have especially made an invaluable contribution to moving our technology into the home energy generation landscape. They’ve got the know-how, the contacts, and the drive to really make things happen. They’ve helped us see things differently, and we’ve been able to be more strategic in our approach and communicate more clearly where it matters most to the business.”

ZENEX - gas heat recovery system

We worked for five years promoting the innovative GasSaver, developed by Zenex  – now Canetis Technologies. It is a unique, patented, flue gas heat recovery system able to deliver an exceptional level of energy efficiency and cost savings.

A public affairs programme provided the backbone to the campaign. This involved briefing opinion formers, setting up meetings with the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change and helping to create new European test standards. We also ran a proactive media campaign, developing case studies for use within the specialist and national press targeting installers, building services providers, boiler manufacturers and homeowners.

In addition, we promoted the entrepreneur who invented and developed the technology, Chris Farrell, a highly experienced sustainable energy technologist and inventor of multiple new categories of energy efficiency solutions now recognised in UK and European legislation. This culminated in Chris being voted New Energy Entrepreneur of the Year by UCL and UKERC, at a prestigious awards event held at the UK Science Museum. This included a subsequent meeting with the Prime Minister.

“The Green Energy Group worked tirelessly to help establish the GasSaver as the most energy-efficient, stored flue gas heat recovery system. Their advice and work, especially on the public affairs side, laid the foundations for the future success and use of the technology.”

Micropower Council

Hammond PR helped set up the Micropower Council – now the Sustainable Energy Council. This was established as a cross-industry organisation with members spanning trade associations, professional institutions and companies, all of which had a strong interest in the development of the microgeneration sector. The Council provided the focal point for government, regulators, opinion formers and parliament on regulation and public policies affecting the production of sustainable heat and power.
